Straighterline Accounting?
#1
Has anyone gone the Straighterline -- ACE -- Excelsior route for Accounting I and II? I've read all the Straighterline threads on here, but I'm still not sure if that is possible, or if I have to do it thru another school first. I am working thru ALEKS Algebra modules, and when I go on the ACE website to apply for a transcript for ALEKS I notice they don't have Straighterline in their list of accepted courses. Even tho on the Straighterline website it says they are ACE approved. What am I missing here?

Id better do it via FHSU and get a letter grade instead of a Pass/Fail with Ace

Howdy Starr,

Straighterline is ACE approved, but not all ACE approved courses participate in the transcript service. When you complete the course your adviser will submit the paperwork. With the Straighterline Accounting and Economics courses it's very easy to get a "pass", but it can be difficult to get an "A". If you just want the credits I would recommend doing it through ACE so you don't have to worry about getting perfect scores.

I wouldnt say difficult but intense. If you take your time to study the material As are perfectly doable

Has anyone taken Straighterline Accounting II through JCTC? The Straighterline web site says there is no application fee, plus they give a letter grade. I just finished Accounting I through a local community college, but this looks faster and cheaper, and is based on the same text that our CC uses. With the exception of an AP history course a gazillion years ago, this will be my first 'non-traditional' means of getting college credit. I have a few B & M credits, and I'd like to eventually get a business degree through Excelsior. I suppose I should register and be done with it, but I'm a little nervous.

Thanks!

I'm confident the SL > ACE > EC process will work, and you may even be able to do SL > EC now that EC is a partner college. I have not verified if they take all the classes directly but they should take anything ACE reviewed from SL through ACE.

Hi guys,

As the original poster, starr, has pointed out, there's a lot of name-dropping of Straighterline (SL) with respect to Excelsior College (EC), recently.

The SL website states that EC accepts their courses as pass/fail. Speaking with an advisor at SL, he stated that results may be reported to ACE, SL or both. This can be done whenever the student requires it.

I've had ENG101+ENG102 reported to ACE and they've been on my transcript for a while.

Does anyone know categorically if SL courses reported directly to EC from SL are transcripted as pass/fail or as a letter grade? I'll contact EC tomorrow to ask but if anyone knows the answer from experience, that would be excellent.
