I have just received my academic evaluation. From all my reading of this board Aleks - Intro to Statistics and Business Statistics should both count towards the BSBA.
My evaluation gave credit for Intro Stats but listed Business Stats as duplicate and no credit.
I have read that Business Stats should list as OPM-351 if you are in BSBA program.
Should I try to get it changed now or just wait and know it will get changed in the end. I will not enroll for at least a few more months when I have all my requirements complete. Will they even listen to me when I am not enrolled? If they would which department should I email?

I had a similar problem before I enrolled. You can either call the TESC Advisement Hotline or email them at
[email protected] to verify that they will give you credit for both courses. You may receive a more timely response via the telephone. As always, with any correspondence that you have with TESC it is good to get EVERYTHING confirmed in writing so that you have a reference point if something on your template is called into question.
Just ask: âTo make better use of my previous credits, would the following work..." And then let them know how you would like your credits applied.
You can tell them that you would like to know if this will work before you plan your remaining courses with them.
In my case, they said a certain course would be moved once another course was taken. Until then, it simply appeared as a duplicate.

Ok, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if they would respond until I was enrolled. I will try the email you listed.

Razor,
If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take between applying to TESC and getting your completed evaluation?

I sent an email to TESC stating that I understood that Business Statistics could be listed as OPM-351 in addition to Intro to Statistics as STA-201 since I am in the BSBA program and I got this response from an advisor.
"Both of the ALEKS courses, Introduction to Statistics and Business Statistics, have been pre-determined by ACE to equate to our STA-201, Principles of Statisitics course when transferred. This is why only one is being used towards your degree requirements and the other is considered duplicative."
What should I do now? Drop it until I enroll, or is there something I can say now to get them to change it? I feel like I have read about enough people on here getting Business Statistics to count as OPM-351 that this information is wrong unless the policy has just changed.

Razor13,
Honestly, how can you argue a point when you are not a student? Take it up with advising or an evaluator once you have enrolled. Let's hope other new business students who also took both stats courses chime in to see if the same happened with their evaluations. But it may have a lot to do with
when you took the course. The course coding may very well have recently changed in order to be consistent with Straighterline (
Transfer College Credits To Thomas Edison State College (TESC) - StraighterLine).
It sucks but this is why I jump on a new offering as soon as I hear about it instead of waiting. If any consolation, I felt the same when students before me got credit for all three stats courses and I only received credit for two. Overall, I am happy to have them all on my transcript. This way if I should need a specific stats course later for another program, the box is checked. IMHO stats is much easier when completed in a grouping vs having to reprogram your brain again later.
