Jumpin Dinner Rolls Wrote:I just got off the phone with Penn Foster (I was having trouble navigating their website...), I talked to someone named Julie and she was most informative, and thought I'd post what I learned.
The Business communications course is no longer offered - it's an old course. But you can fulfill the business communications requirement with the Penn Foster Business & Technical Writing class. The $200.00 price must be an older price, because they told me (and I saw on their website) that if your not enrolled in Penn Foster's entire curriculum then it's $295.00 a course with another $25.00 enrollment fee. Those are all the charges involved, you don't have to pay extra for books or anything. So a grand total of $320 for the course. Not exactly a steal, but it's a better deal than the Thomas Edison courses. The credits will transfer to Thomas Edison through ACE.
This seems to be the lowest priced course (that I've found) to meet the TESC business Communications requirement. If anyone knows of any other/better options, let me know.
Try Clovis CC (online) in the fall for about $163:

It sounds like Julie is misinformed. Penn Foster only charges $65 per credit hour and there is a $25 proctor fee which would bring the total for the class to $220 not $320.
Anyone interested in the course should call Wendy at 800-961-6407 and press option 1.

If you have prior business experience you could also do the business letter writing PLA. Will probably cost a little bit more though.
Just an option.

Hello all-
I am in the middle of the Guide Study version of Managerial Communications at TESC. Although it is not that hard, be prepared for a WEEKLY 3-4 page report. I was unaware of this when I signed up, I understood incorrectly that it was just a mid-term and final. I have no problem with the material, but it is a pain-in-the -a** for me to type that much.
I hope this helps. Greg
****************** I am taking the mid-term tomorrow. Anyone have any input on the format????************************
