I am 17 years old and I am planning on applying to Thomas Edison this year...as soon as possible. The only thing in the way is the fact that I am underage. I have heard that if you write a letter of appeal and show them that you have at least 30 credits, they will usually accept you. I have 61 credits to date, and in a couple more months I hope to have raised that number to at least 75.
Does anyone know anything about this appeal letters? How to write them, if they are necessary, etc.?
I have heard that the letters can be waived if you have a certain number of credits. Is 60 enough?
Thanks, everyone, for your input. My goal is to have my BA in English by the end of this year...a few months after I graduate from high school in June.

I don't think an appeal letter is necessary unless they've changed their policy. I know their website has an age requirement, but my son applied last year at age 15. He just turned 16 and has 110 credits completed. He prefers to take classes rather than testing out. He will officially enroll this spring since he's planning on completing his degree in December.

I don't know for sure if a letter is necessary but it probably is a good thing just to cover your bases. I wrote a short letter stating that although I was under the age limit I believed I should be accepted based on the amount of credits(99) completed. They accepted me with no problems.
P.S. I like your verse!

I liked the verse too!
Farmerboy, I just read your link and congratulations on graduating. My ds is counting down semesters. Unlike you he had no interest in testing, and thus it's taken him 4 years to graduate (taking summer courses) rather than 3 years! This semester he has 22 credits but 4 credits are for a ministerial certification from a 4 year university (hopefully TESC will accept them under religion) and can be completed at any time. Summer and fall semesters should be much better and a lighter workload.

My son was homeschooled until he got bored and decided to take the CPT at 12. He graduated highschool and with a dual associates from a local college at 14.
We wanted to wait on graduating him from hs, but the college wouldn't give him his degree without hs graduation. He had enough credits, so it wasn't an issue from that perspective. Currently he's taking online classes for his bachelors and will get his degree from TESC. He was never interested in clepping or taking ACT's/SAT's, so I never helped with any prep (not that I could have anyway).

I'm homeschooled...but I've just been working on getting college credits since the end of my junior year last year. So this is my school for senior year...I'm not doing anything in addition for high school credit. I've taken the College Board SAT, 3 SAT II exams, 1 ACT, and I scored well on all of them. TESC doesn't even care about those, so "Oh well". But if anyone comes up to me and demands to know if I accomplished anything or learning anything in high school, that's what I can show them LOL!
Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Philippians 4:13 is an awesome verse, isn't it?
