Has anyone taken CIS-351 Software Engineering at TESC? If so, would you mind sharing a little information about the midterm? I am not asking for test compromise, just a general idea of what level of depth to expect. The textbook author uses a lot of "Principles of" lists in the text. Are the essay questions going to expect memorization of these lists?
If you make a document and fill it with the module 1-3 topics and Study Guide sections (from the Module 1-3 Details files) and understand each topic listed you will be fine. I did that for my Midterm and Final and got a 98 and 97, respectively.
I wouldn't say there is a lot of depth that you will need, as long as you know general concepts and definitions you should be able to work out the rest. The essay questions cover concepts not specifically lists from my memory, just focus on knowing key concepts and the differences between different key topics such as Waterfall vs Evolutionary vs Agile, etc...
I've attached my notes in case they help. Any areas I didn't fill in are because I already knew the material, not because it isn't important to know.
Best of luck.
I'm a 19 year old, Software Engineer, who is enrolled at TESC for a B.A. in Computer Science. My bachelors coursework is completed and I am waiting for graduation to roll around. Will start pursuing ALM in Information Technology with a concentration in Software Engineering from Harvard Extension School sometime in the coming year.
