I have a question about TESC, I was wondering how often they confer degrees. I know Charter Oaks does it 6 times a year.

Interesting post! I agree, it would be nice if they did this as often as COSC. I have 30 credits until I have a B.A. and was looking forward to being a college graduate A.S.A.P., but it looks like it will have to wait until winter

. I wonder about Excelsior.

I don't think it matters. I updated my resume and LinkedIn profile the SECOND I hit 120 credits. If you're actively looking for a job or seeking a promotion based upon your graduation, you can request a letter of completion from your school, which basically states that you are graduated and awaiting degree conferral. It shouldn't take longer than a week to get and COSC was very quick with mine when I needed it for my grad school application.
The only bad thing about the degree conferral during the year is that there is still only one graduation ceremony. I talked to people at the COSC ceremony that had already gotten their diploma in the mail months before graduation day. I really liked that I finished up my Capstone course in May and only had to wait a month before the ceremony.

That's exactly what I had in mind.
I'm not too worried about the graduation ceremony, but say I hit the 120 credits in the middle of October, technically, what you're saying is...I could list my Bachelors on my resume without it being untrue? Basically, the moment you hit those 120 you ARE a Bachelor's degree grad right? That's really all that matters to me.
Really nice to know. I guess this is common sense, but I haven't been to school for over a year and didn't consider the whole conferral thing before I signed up at TESC.

At TESC as soon as you are enrolled in your last 9 credits or have taken your last CLEP/DSST etc. exam you can apply for graduation. If you need the degree for employment or Grad school you can apply for a rush on approval. Once you have approval they will send you an official letter saying you have met all the requirements for the degree and stating the conferral date (even has an official stamp). The only problem I ran into is the degree will not be listed on your official transcript until after the conferral date.

Thanks Linda. That's good to know. Did employers heckle you about that?
I'm just glad to to know that I don't have to wait months to list my degree on my resume, which is most important to me.
How long did it take to get your rush approval and did TESC charge an arm and a leg for it?

TESC did not charge me anything extra for the rush. I explained I was working as a teacher and for legal and salary reasons I had to prove I had earned the degree before the school year was over.
I did my last CLEP on May 24, and I had my approval by June 15. I don't remember the exact date.
