Hi Everyone,
I couldn't find an answer to this in the archive. I had to postpone my testing, but I'm about to go at it with gusto starting next week. My question is how to pay for the tests. I know that the information is entered on line at the time of the test, but does payment need to be in my name?
I'm very blessed that my brother, who lives out of state, is willing to pay for my testing so that I can get this whole thing done already. He gave me his CC#, but I'm wondering if there will be any problem using someone's else's card when taking the test. I'd imagine a lot of folks are using their parent's cards?
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you all -- you really do change lives!

The test taker does not have to be the one paying for the test. On CLEPs there is simply a check box that states wether you are the person paying for it. You shouldn't have any problems, granted you have the correct info. Note: In addition to the CC# you will also need the expiration date, type, and for DSSTs the security code.

Just a note each testing center has their own rules about Proctors fees, some want it in cash, some want a check and most want it separate from the cost of the test. You need to check on this before you go.

Yes, please follow Linda's advice. My new testing center wants CASH for their fee ($20) and requires credit/debit card for the CLEP fee ($80). It'll take 2 seconds for you to call, it's worth doing.

Defiantly! Mine is the exact opposite, no cash, just check. Make sure you check on this! If you can't get ahold of them, I suggest having multiple forms of payment ready. (It's doubtful that you wouldn't be able to get in touch with them, however, if that is the case, you may want to consider finding a new center - one that you can get a hold of)

My sister-in-law uses my credit card to pay for her tests. Our names don't even remotely match. She hasn't had a problem, but she tests at a center that doesn't charge an administrative fee. The credit card data is entered by the student into a computer screen. What is on the credit card isn't any of the testing center's business and they shouldn't be looking at it.
As the others have said, the administrative fee is where you could have a payment issue. I've paid by credit card, check, and cash depending on the center.

That's how it is at my Clep testing center (no administrative fee, either).
