Well, literally a few hours! It seems the budget her team brought to the table wasn't as good as the other!
I wouldn't really know why they would want to quit, wouldn't there be some "middle ground" for other areas when you're on top?

It makes sense given that Sweden has a parliamentary form of government. The Prime Minister comes into power through the support of a coalition of political parties; if the coalition breaks up, which happened in this case, it no longer has the power to sustain the prime minister or appoint new ones.
It's so possible that a new coalition could form and she could get appointed again.
If you follow the Israel elections earlier this year, it was all about the coalitions. If you didn't, I think you would enjoy reading up on it.

I'm not certain where you got the impression they care more than ours do? It's just a different system, but I'm sure there are good and bad politicians in all countries. Or most of them anyway.
