They're killing the dogs, they're killing the cats and squirrels in NY
#1
Well, maybe not dogs and cats yet, but the government of NY has decided to kill pet squirrels.

"An upstate man whose beloved squirrel was cruelly killed by the state said he was treated like a “terrorist” when 10 government agents descended on his home during a five-hour raid."

It's good to see NY has their priorities right.

Yes, it's pretty sad... New York authorities euthanize social media star Peanut the squirrel
Fred the raccoon was also killed by officials, who said the animals were a risk factor in the spread of rabies

Police and other government enforcement groups love killing animals. Just look at how many dogs are killed by cops each year.

supposedly the person who reported / complained to authorities was upset that the squirrel was getting more instagram views than she was

Maybe, if you are going to have illegal pets (which squirrels are in New York), you shouldn’t plaster it all over social media. I love it when people break the law, post their violations online, and then act like victims.

Anybody who has dealt with state wildlife conservation officers knows that they don’t play around. Worth noting that it is illegal to keep squirrels as pets in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. I guarantee if this person had been flaunting his law breaking in one of those states, the response would have been just as intense or more, but it wouldn’t have taken 7 years before they act.
