Trying to get a degree fast
#11
Haven’t taken the Environmental Science through Sophia. Can’t speak to that. The chemistry one is new. I’m taking it now (12 hour night shifts, what else am I going to do, right?). It’s on the tougher side compared to other Sophia classes I’ve taken. Doable in a weekend though, if someone wanted to get down and dirty with it.

Environmental Science is easy. Most of it is stuff you probably already know. It can easily be completed in 2-3 days, or just one day if someone really wanted to push it.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Currently got chemistry and history 1 open. If I end up knocking 1 (or both) of those out on tomorrow’s shift, maybe I’ll try that bat science next week? Idk. We’ll see. I hate opening a month of Sophia me not trying to cram stuff in, even if I don’t need it. Lol

You will need 40 credits of GEC. So keep that in mind. Yes many classes can be used over and over to fill GEC requirements. I would take some classes on Sophia that are GEC like Art History 1 & 2, Environmental Science, US History 1 & 2, macro and micro econ, psych, soc, religion, human bio. I don't know what you've already completed, but these are all GEC courses so you'd hit that 40 credits no problem.

For TESU, you are very close to your Psych degree (I show you at 73cr done, with either 12-15cr of UL in the AoS).
- I can't tell if UCLR100: Interpreting Literature from Loyola is English Comp II? If not, you'll need Comp 2
- I'm not sure where you got that you have 53cr from Loyola, I show 47 when I add them up (maybe you're missing 2 courses?)

For courses, here's what I show done:
1) Ethics courses duplicate, so can only use 1
2) Oral Comm - need this
3) Civic Engagement - need this (American Govt, Comparative Politics)
4) Need 2 science/computer science courses
5) Free Electives - need 11 more credits

For your AoS, here's what I show:
Intro - done (PSYC101)
Research - done (PSYC306 - UL)
Social Psych 1 - done (PSYC275)
Social Psych 2 - done (PSYC321 - UL)
History & Systems - Need
Physiological - Need
Developmental - done (PSYC273)
Statistics - done (PSYC304 - UL??)
Abnormal - need
Ethics in the Social Sciences - need
2 Electives in Psych - done (PSYCH133 - UL & PSYCH180 - UL)
2 Electives in Social Science - 1 done (PSYC235), 1 needed

Also, you have 4-5 UL courses (I'm not sure if they'll bring the Stas course in as UL or not), so you may need 1 additional; but your eval will tell you if you need it or not. If you do, you can take PSY 312: History & Systems of Psychology from Study.com; this also means that you don't need to take any other UL courses, the capstone will be it.

*Note to everyone: UC Berkeley uses a LL 1-99; UL 100-199 course numbering system so that's why those courses are UL even though they don't look like it.

If I were you, I'd probably sign up for Study.com and just blow through courses and be done. You should probably get your AoS courses done first, so that you can register for your Capstone sooner (you need 100cr plus AoS and Written English 2 done).

For EC, you're also close (I show you at 70cr, your C- won't transfer there)

You need:
Written English 2 (same as TESU)
1 Natural Science
1 UL Arts & Sciences Elective
HISTORY & SYSTEMS (PSY 312: History & Systems of Psychology - Study.com)
BIOLOGICAL & PHYSIOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS (PSY 311: Physiological Psychology - UL - Study.com)
ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY (PSY 106: Abnormal Psychology - Study.com)
COGNITIVE BASES (PSY 102: Educational Psychology - Study.com)
1 additional UL course in anything in the Free Electives area
19cr in Free Electives

This will be $2600 cheaper than TESU

A CS degree through TESU (or some other non-trad universities here) can be gained faster than a traditional CS degree, though it will not be as fast as the other options people are suggesting here. I don't know what your motivation is in wanting to complete a degree fast, but you may want to consider the CS degree option too since it seems like it would be more relevant and beneficial to your career.

Thanks for taking the time to ask these questions for me, I really appreciate it! Smile

1A - English Comp; I think this one has been completed
1B - English Comp II; Not sure if this has been completed, take at UMPI if not
1C - Commmunications or American Government - I don't think this has been completed; InstantCert or UMPI
1D - English Comp again
2A - Covered by PHIL-181 Ethics
2B - Ethics again
2C - English Comp II again
2D - May be covered by one of the piano classes, depending on syllabus; otherwise take HUM-103 @ UMPI
2E - Definitely covered by a piano class
3A - Covered by any of your math classes
3B - Covered by any of your math classes
3C - Biology - take Biology 101L @ Study.com
3D - Environmental Science or Chemistry at Sophia
3E - Lab science - met by BIO 101L from Study.com
4A - 0-credit YourPace orientation that takes 1-2 hours. Everyone must take this.
4B - English Comp II again
4C - Ethics again
5A - Should be covered by Intro to Religious Studies.
5B - Covered by HIST 212
5C - Foreign language - take Spanish at InstantCert or (if fluent in another language) take an ACTFL exam
5D - Ethics again
5E - American Government/politics

UMPI limits you to 90 transferred credits per degree. With all of the credit available for transfer, I would recommend taking only:
Biology 101L @ Study.com, Spanish @ InstantCert, and Environmental Science/Chemistry from Sophia. This would allow you to transfer in more of your psych classes to at least be used as electives.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, I'm going to wait for TESU evaluation first and see how it goes.

What's your end goal? If it's just a Bachelors, then a TESU BA Psychology is an option. If you're looking to move up to a Masters in Psychology, you can go for a MS Psychology at Walden, it just requires a BA in anything. Example for Walden, BA LS Social Science and then ladder to MA Psychology.

Thanks for your plan. I really appreciate it!  You're absolutely correct about the 47cr from Loyola, it's not 53cr. Thank you for reminding me that those 2 courses from Berkeley are UL because I really forgot about it. I applied to TESU yesterday and I’m going to apply to EC and go from there.

TESU and EC are both good options; and both will take Coopersmith, Study.com and UExcel exams for those Psych courses you need (plus anything else you need obviously).

Once you decide, we can tell you where to take courses that you need at the best prices.
