Upper Level courses at COSC
#1
Which Sophia's, CLEP, and DSST credits are still considered UL credits?

DSST Civil War and Reconstruction UL?
DSST Substance Abuse UL?
Sophia Project Management UL ?
DSST Business Ethics & Society?
Any other UL credits?

Thank you

As far as I know, no sophias are upper level at COSC? Last I heard on this forum someone had the project management as lower level.

and this link is the latest known for testing credits with CLEP DSST UExcel TECEP, etc

I am still working with my LL, but I am concerned about the UL for COSC.

Sophia today acknowledges being a provider of LL courses. After filling out one of their surveys they put a phrase that was something like: "we want to be the best provider of LL courses on the internet" (or something like that).

Based on previous research I did about a year, the best way to get COSC UL's is study.com; but I still have doubt if I can complete all the ULs for my BSBA with just study.com.

There are a number of UL UExcels. If it's 300 or 400, it's UL. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UE...es_at_TESU (I need to make this page for COSC). Compare that list with https://www.charteroak.edu/catalog/curre...20pdf2.pdf to help decide what UExcels, if any, you'll take.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

UExcel is always a good option, I didn't take any exam with them yet, but it looks as the cheapest RA source.

The problem of UExcel is the pearson thing. It isn't 100% online but you need to physically move to the pearson center to do the exam.

The pearson center thing could not look like big issue as a lot of pearson centers everywhere, but if you are international student it could be a thing because depending of your location you will need to travel to another city in order to reach the center.

UExcel exam is $110, and the pearson service is $45 to 65$, you pay less that $200 for a RA course.

By the way, with pandemic Paerson Vue was implementing some online service, but i don't know if this works or not.

Actually, if that wiki page says it has an online exam, you can take it at home and NOT go to a center. For instance, from the Anatomy & Physiology 1 page: https://www.excelsior.edu/exam/anatomy-a...siology-1/

Quote:You can take this exam either in a Pearson VUE testing center or at your home or office with an online proctor. If you are interested in this option, visit the PearsonVue OnVUE Online Proctoring page.

Okay, finally made the equivalency page for COSC: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UE...es_at_COSC This should make it easier to find UL exams to take.

More than half of the UExcel exams are now able to be taken online (31 of 54); unfortunately, you still have to pay the stupid $55 fee to PearsonVUE (EC needs to get on board and switch over to their own system like TESU does for TECEP exams, which have no proctoring fee).

$110 + $55 isn't too bad. It's only slightly more than Coopersmith and you get RA credit for it.

Yeah - but why pay PearsonVUE at all?  The college could charge $125 for the exams and administer them all through ProctorU or RPNow or one of the other myriad ways of online proctoring now, and cut Pearson out entirely.  There's just no need for them at this point.
