Kudos Study.com

I was in a bind as I applied for graduation but the Study.com Principles of Supervision course I took didn't apply to the AOS for my BSBA GM, leaving me 3 credits short. I tried to knock out Saylor's Corporate Communication to fill the slot but missed by 1 point (whole different story... terribly written questions, answers that don't match the text OR coursework, blatantly wrong answers, got a 90 on practice final but 68 on the direct credit final?).

I reached out to Study.com with my dilemma. I was willing to pay for the additional test as I'm out of tests for this month but on the Guardian scholarship. They responded by voiding the Principles of Supervision course and giving me another exam this month which I used to knock out Labor Relations today. No charge. I just finished the final and killed it.

I had criticisms of Study.com early on, but they really came through for me here. Their courses are solid (but lengthy), but if one thing makes me loyal to a company it is how they treat their customers when things don't go as planned. I've recommended them to friends and family that are looking to do an alternative credit degree as well.

Between SL and Study.com - SL was definitely easier and faster for me; however I learned more at Study.com. The grading at SL is a joke (every assignment over 90% with little effort, I don't think they read half of them), whereas the grading at Study.com is more stringent (I once had an assignment where they went to one of my sources and found my writing too similar, oops!).

Anyhow, I hope this is my last course, but Study.com deserves some kudos for how they saved the day even though it was totally and completely my fault. Now here's to hoping I can get it on my ACE transcript and sent to TESU quickly before graduation audit.

Study.com - if you're paying attention - a direct transcript option for TESU would be awesome. SL has you beat there. $15 per transcript adds up!

That's nice of you to come on here and post that. They have been VERY responsive in creating new courses, and it's nice to see that they take that over to customers AFTER they've already paid their money! Not always the case.

I had a very similar experience with another Saylor course, you may have been able to open a ticket and get enough of the answers credited (not an easy process) to get a pass but I think you probably took the path of least resistance for sure.

Congrats!

I'm knocking out some of the core GE classes thru Straighterline then on to Study.com for most if not all of the rest.

I had them do something similar when I was in a bind for making the graduation deadline and on the guardian scholarship. They're customer service is top notch! I have not had any issues with any of our "alternate" credit sources but study.com's customer service and responsiveness to our requests and complaints makes them my fave!

Thanks for posting this - makes me feel good about my son doing one more month with them. Meanwhile, I'm having a customer service nightmare with Straighterline. My son finished up his last course with them the day before his membership ended - he thought he clicked through all the buttons to cancel, and he even received an email which said "your membership has been canceled" at the top, but I was billed Saturday. They are refusing to budge, only offering to give him a one month credit to be used in the future (he has literally taken every eligible course they offer - 15 or so of them - he is done). I'm supposed to be finishing up our taxes today, but instead I'm stressing over this $99 charge that they can't see fit to cut us some slack on. I had been recommending SL to everyone - that will end now if they can't make this right.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of  Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management

Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

I would file a dispute with the credit card company. He has the email as proof of cancellation. You'd be surprised how fast those dollars get placed back into your account.

Just an FYI, Prin of Supervision doesn't count towards the Core or AOS at TESU, so it's just a free elective.
