Does anyone on here have experience with the Master of Legal Studies program at West Virginia University? Or any other MLS programs for that matter?
I'm interested, and feel like I would be successful in the program but I'm concerned about "So, you're a lawyer?" or "Why didn't you just go to law school?" type of unfamiliarity.

I don't have experience attending one of these programs. It's my understanding that they're designed for people who need to understand law but don't need to be attorneys i.e. HR managers and arbitrators.

Strangely enough, whenever people find out that I'm working on a PhD in criminal justice, they often ask if I plan on becoming a judge. Americans don't understand the basic requirements to become a legal professional.

I think these programs are just fine like Santone said if you want to work in HR or even run a small business. This is for people who want a better understanding of the law without a JD. If it is interesting to you, go for it. What's the cost?

Do you know what career you want? You probably would get questioned a lot, even by some of the hiring managers. But the right company would value it.
