Waive Saylor.org Fees?
#1
Lightbulb
Is waiving Saylor.orgs fee possible? I read the following

"The $25 fee for Saylor Direct Credit exams comes from using the online proctoring service, ProctorU. If you use your own qualified proctor, this fee is waived."

Here

https://www.saylor.org/pathways/open-course-option-for-asba/#degree-map

Only applicable to that specific path? Or in general? Any one know?

Thanks in Advance!

Saylor doesn't charge anything. I'm not certain but it's very likely they allow it for all their courses. It wouldn't make sense to only allow it for some.

But if you avoid the ProctorU fees, usually your other proctor or location charges fees. I'm not sure how someone would find a proctor cheaper than $25 per exam.

Usually a proctor has to be a licensed teacher, librarian, or maybe religious leader. I can't find their policies on proctors, just the form they need to sign: https://www.saylor.org/site/wp-content/u...y-form.pdf

I am new trying to make the most of CLEP exams and ACE CREDITS building a plan, and trying to estimate costs.
I was under the impression there were fees associated with Saylor Direct Course/Credit.

Thanks so much for the insight, it is very much appreciated!

Remote Proctor Now proctoring fee is $15. I know some of the providers can support pretty much any proctoring software, but I don't know if Saylor is one of them.

But yeah, that fee waiver is intended for an in-person proctor, like Ideas mentioned. If they could support RPnow they probably would.

Yes, you can get your own proctor for Saylor. I'm not sure of the process though. But if you can find someone to proctor you for free, go for it.

If you can find a free proctor, you don't pay Proctor U the $25. During my time as a student at TESU taking classes, most of my midterm and final exams required a live proctor. I use my local librarian and she didn't charge a thing. (I did more than 12 with her)

I used the in-person proctoring method with Saylor and depending on what kind of arrangement you have with your proctor and / or what your financial options are, it could be free as the exams themselves cost nothing.
