We Shouldn't Be Alive
#1
Hi all,

Today (2 October) was the first day of Deer (Archery) Hunting Season here in Texas. I took my little girl hunting with me for some father/daughter bonding. We went out, enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife and had fun. We didn't kill any deer but my daughter had fun looking at the squirrels, raccoons, foxes and birds, No Deer though.
After the hunting trip, we got in my truck and headed for home. We were going down the highway, I looked at the rearview to see my daughter in the back seat and next thing I knew we were flying through the air. 8pm to be exact.

A lady not paying attention, flew past a stop sign doing about 45-50 MPH and were doing 55 MPH as well, but we had the right of way. She hit my truck on the driver's side which caused us to flip and roll over several times. We landed in a ditch right side up. I got out of the truck to make sure my daughter was alive. I was surprised she was not hurt at all, except for a few scratches. I got a little banged up but nothing major. I looked at my truck and it was destroyed, wheels fell off, windows broken, the roof caved in from the rollover. I was so happy my daughter was okay, she didn't even cry which was unusual. I was so mad that I would have shot the lady if I had my gun on me. I was not thinking straight with rage worrying about my girl. My daughter made me laugh when she burst out with, "daddy, we don't have a truck to go hunting anymore" she said, "poor truck". She was more worried about he truck than anything else. That made my anger go away and I just hugged her.

After seeing the the entire accident scene, I still think that we should have died on that intersection. I guess that little Nissan Frontier of mine was built tough, it was either that or God was looking out for us. Probably both.

Someone owes me a new truck!!!

Thank God and the angels both you and your daughter are safe!!

I certainly hope they get that idiot off the road. Some jail time would be appropriate. Might get her mind back on the correct path.

Thank God you are both safe. Was the lady on the phone or texting? Some people can't even walk and talk no less drive and talk. Were you and your daughter wearing seatbelts? You are very lucky to be unhurt, I bet you are botn a little sore today that is a lot of bouncing around.

Yes both my daughter and I were wearing seatbelts which was probably why we are alive. I know she would have definitely flown out of the window if she wasn't belted in. And yes, we are very sore. My daughter looks like she's been punched in the face. But she is in very high spirits.

I don't know if the lady was on the phone or not, but she said she didn't know the area and didn't see the stop sign. I think if you don't know an area, people would pay more attention to their surroundings, but that's just me. It was a crazy experience, I remember every flip and impact. I thought my daughter was dead on impact because of where the car hit, but she started screaming and asking me if I was alright once the truck came to a stop, then I knew she was ok. I guess my Nissan truck and my little girls head were built "FORD Tough".

I'd put my bet on God, I think. Smile I am glad to hear that He brought you both through the accident. Things like that make one stop and think.

Thank goodness you are both alright. I was in a bad car accident years ago and it sticks with you for a long time and your keep replaying it over and over in your mind. After many years in EMS I'm a firm believer in seatbelts and think they save a ton of lives every year. I just wish more people would use them. You and your daughter are proof they do their job. Take it easy and give your daughter lots of hugs...gently! I'm glad you are still here with our IC family! I'm sure you will get your new truck courtesy of the other driver's insurance!
