confusing post title, I know
but wasn't sure of a better way to write it

These two courses are offered online through Stony Brook University -- which is part of SUNY (State University of New York)

Applied Calculus III
AMS-261-30
Stony Brook University

You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
Vector algebra and analytic geometry in two and three dimensions; multivariable differential calculus and tangent planes; multivariable integral calculus; optimization and Lagrange multipliers; vector calculus including Green's and Stokes's theorems. May not be taken for credit in addition to MAT 203 or 205.

Course Area: Statistics
Level: Lower Level Undergraduate
Dates: 01-06-2026 - 01-23-2026

Applied Calculus IV: Differential Equations
AMS-361-30
Stony Brook University

You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
Homogeneous and inhomogeneous linear differential equations; systems of linear differential equations; solution with power series and Laplace transforms; partial differential equations and Fourier series. May not be taken for credit in addition to the equivalent MAT 303.

Course Area: Statistics
Level: Upper Level Undergraduate
Dates: 01-06-2026 - 01-23-2026

https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/ams/a...ses/ams361

but as you can see they are in the statistics area -- AMS 261 and AMS 361
they are not in the math area

so for a bachelors in mathematics from TESU, does TESU accept courses that are not designated as math courses, but are the equivalent ?

TESU counts stats courses as math courses. They might go into the AOS electives.

AMS at Stony Brook seems to mean Applied Mathematics & Statistics, too, not just statistics.

Yes, any math and/or statistics classes should come in fine. Here are the TESU BA Math requirements if you're curious.
