I was looking around at different Colleges and their Degrees and stuff when I came across this term.
Quoting Unnamed College,
"Courses that count in the ECON major quality point average (MQPA): All courses with 'ECON' prefix. A minimum of 2.00 MQPA is required to graduate."
What is this?

Major Quality Point Average? I'm assuming it means that you must maintain a 2.0 GPA in the courses that pertain to your major in order to graduate.

Retake is right or that's what I was told. MQPA is the average quality points earned in your major. Like in your example (ECON), you'd be expected to get a MQPA of 2.00, meaning a 2.00 average of quality points attempted within that major (economics). A lot of majors add the MQPA requirement because it would be OK if someone graduating in let's say Chemical Engineering barely passed or got D's in all art or gym classes but Chemical Engineer wannab's are usually expected to make no lower than a B in classes that directly pertain to their major.
nick94 and others know this but I'll post for newbies: To calculate 'quality points' you take the numerical equivalent of the grade, for example A = 4.0 and multiply it times the number of semester hours the course bears. If you got an A (4.0) in a 3 credit math course you'd have 12 quality points.

Thanks Retake and Sam. That's what I thought it was but I wanted to make sure.
