This is more true now than ever. There are lots of writing tools available. I use Scrivener
Scrivener | Literature & Latte (literatureandlatte.com)
And you can also self-publish. The largest outfit for that is Amazon
Self Publishing | Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing

That's a great idea, writing a book in something you're familiar with and want to share that knowledge with others. It can be in anything actually, whatever interests you! I remember a fellow member armstrongsubero, he has a book already, if not two in regards to electronics, programming or something along those lines - and a previous member cookderosa also has her books published similarly. If writing is your forte or interest and you've got that energy, time, and patience to do it, go for it!!

A picture book for children? I'm pretty sure that pretty much nobody can sit down and write a novel in a single day.

No, a real book around 150 pages.
Why can't I write a book in one day?

The average book has about 300 words per page. That'd be 45k words in a book.
If you typed at a respectable 85wpm, it'd take you about 9 hours to write 45k words. This does not account for pauses (for stuff like food, drink, bathroom) or for needing to follow an actual plot. Per the wikipedia article about pulp magazines ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulp_magaz...nd_editors) Upton Sinclair reportedly was writing 8k/day with the help of stenographers. At 8k per day, you're looking at finishing a 45k novel in just under a week.

Flelm, did you take Study.com's Computer Architecture? That's how the course was like! (how to draw an 8bit APU)
I would like to write something that would actually help someone or provide value to someone.
Business-related, real estate, personal finance, self-improvement are some of the main topics I have experience in.
