? about the new NCCRS approved courses at Saylor
#1
I was reading the syllabus for the political science course. It says that you have to write a long paper, but then it says that the entire grade is dependent on the final exam. So is the paper optional? I'd hate to do more work than necessary.

It's a great question, I would be surprised if anyone knows for sure yet...the courses are too new. My undwerstanding was that the final demonstrated your competence...so the paper would be extra work that isn't "required" but I'm TOTALLY guessing!
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

You could try sending an email to Saylor.org. Every time I have contacted them, they have been really nice and professional. Even when I had to let them know that several of their links were the wrong ones. Maybe they could give you an answer. Smile

Wow! Saylor replied within 20 minutes of my email. They told me that the paper and all assignments outside of the final exam is for our own benefit. Yay!

The final exams, from my understanding, are multiple choice and reflect the questions covered in the non-proctored final exam available in the course. The business communications exam had approx 25 questions when I went to review.
