GPA and TESU degree with transferred credits?
#1
I read that for degrees with transferred credits, it causes issues with the GPA.

Is this the case (especially with TESU)? What happens?

Most schools including TESU don't include those transferred credits in the GPA.

For example, if someone had a 4.0 GPA their first year, and they transfer, now maybe they take some harder classes and get a 3.0. Their GPA is a 3.0 because the others don't count.

I don't have a GPA from TESU. I transferred most of my courses and used TECEPs for others including the capstone. For career changers and younger, inexperienced graduates a GPA could be required by potential employers and a high GPA could be beneficial. A lot of Grad schools ask for a certain GPA when applying. A number of people have posted on this board that neither issue has been a problem for them.

With policy changes in the last couple of years, the capstone can no longer be transferred in and the TECEP can no longer be used.

So TESU graduates now get some GPA because of the capstone, but anyone looking at the transcript can see that the GPA was based on very few credits, in that case.

Any employers or schools that actually care about GPA will want to know about ALL your grades from all your schools.
