Do yourself a favor and buy the book "Pass DSST Astronomy the Easy Way!" You can buy it here for cheap: Amazon.com: Pass DSST Astronomy The Easy Way!: Study Guide For The Dsst Astronomy Exam! (9781434805461): David C. Wilson: Books. Do it now, thank me later. Good luck.

I guess you probably don't have access to the Standard Deviants Astronomy DVD either, that's too bad because it's a great program.
The main book that I used was just "The Idiot's guide to Astronomy" and some other book like "Astronomy in Pictures" (probably not the real title) I'm sure you could find something similar that would work for you if you're a visual person like me I agree about using Instantcert's flashcards too, they are pretty accurate.

Well, not having much access to internet might prove a pain but you can still pass.
The study guide is TEENY. I wouldn't recomment relying on that alone. Probably any basic, up to date textbook or NOVA book. If you get something with lots of pictures, it will help you remember things better. Make sure you don't find some book that's probably ten years old since astronomy changes so much so fast. If you can get a hold of movies, PBS/NOVA offers ALOT of movies on astronomy. Of course, I found those after I took the test. banghead Hope that helps somewhat and good luck!

One good thing about Astronomy in my opinion is it's mostly memorization... there's not much 'applying' at least not on the exam I took. If you knew what a prostar was, the speed of light and the definition of supernova and so on you were pretty good.

Yes, I thought that Astronomy involved a lot of memorization as well. I used the IC flashcards and the Cliff's QuickReview on Astronomy. You can get a used copy for under $5.
Amazon.com: Astronomy (Cliffs Quick Review) (0785555024441): Charles J. Peterson: Books I read the Cliff's review a couple of times through and felt it was very good for the exam. Always check the specific exam feedback.

I second that. The little Cliff's Astronomy book helped significantly in tying up loose ends. Can't go wrong with the Instantcert flashcards. I reckon Instantcert alone would suffice.
