ugh...just ugh.

I got my BOG AAS from Pierpont in December 2023 and transferred to TESU in July 2025.  My GPA is 3.058 because of a couple of terms where I bombed a class.  Anyway, this term, I'm taking both Writing for Success I and II and also retaking American Government (one of the classes I bombed.)

I had planned to take my capstone and graduate with a BA in Liberal Studies in December but my advisor is c***-blocking me from that.  I need 6 credits so I can at least get some financial aid, but he won't allow me to register for another class along with the capstone.  I asked him if he can remove one of the classes I transferred in from Sophia or Study.com but he's like "nope."

I got him to add a certificate in Clinical and Forensic Psychology but he says I can't get financial aid to pay for those classes, either.

If I can't take 6 credits, I can't afford to take the capstone and I can't graduate with my bachelor's.  At this point, if he continues to be a problem, I'll just get the AA in General Studies (with no capstone) and transfer somewhere else.

Has this BS happened to anyone else here?  I have had a decent TESU experience so far.

I am thinking the advisor assigned to you just wants you to finish the degree and not take extra classes not required for the degree. Email advising and the registrar for your options and have them explain what can and can't be done, what other class are you wanting to take? How about adding the PLA-1010 and work 80/20 split? (80 for Capstone, 20 for PLA of your time) Link: https://www2.tesu.edu/ucourse.php?Course...A-1010&sem=

I was able to work it out with him and he happily changed me from Liberal Studies (with no concentration) to Liberal Studies/Social Sciences so I can take the two classes and have financial aid pay for it.

It was so much easier dealing with him over the phone opposed to doing it by email.
