  Nerves and Technical Writing!!
Posted by: mphelps75 - 03-30-2009, 06:31 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

Hey guys, I am taking my first DSST Technical Writing in the morning and my nerves have the best of me. I have been studying and have taken note of the feedback on the forum, anyone have any last minute feedback on things I should go over or any strategies? Also I want to confirm that it is better to answer a question rather than leave it blank correct?
Any feedback is appreciated...

I need these 3 credits like crazy!!

  Roadmap for BSBA at TESC
Posted by: cframe - 03-30-2009, 12:22 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (5)

I've done a search, but came up dry. Is there anyone who used CLEP and DSST to complete a majority of their coursework for a BS in Business that can share?

Thanks

what is your experiences with Ashford University for those who have gone through them?
Im trying to see if I can get their BA in Psychology degree and was going to transfer in my credits from other schools that they seem to take credit from even vocational style schools.
Is there any truth to this or do they really avoid taking credits from schools that are other than college?
thanks

AHH, sorry i just saw the title and it says ASFORD << IT was supposed to be ASHFORD, sorry guys and gals

There Is No Good Algebra Information!
Posted by: jamesconner31 - 03-30-2009, 09:16 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (15)

Hello everyone,

I am desperately seeking any sort of advise that anyone can provide regarding the Algebra CLEP. I unfortunately am unable to take the College Math CLEP because my college does not accept the credit.

I'm having a hard time preparing to take the test because I generally use IC for my test prep and they have nothing for this course. Due to this, I'm not currently subscribed and cannot access the specific feedback section for Algebra.

If anyone has anything specific concerning the college Algebra CLEP, please post it. Please copy-paste from the specific feedback section or something. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This forum has helped me go 7/7 in my CLEPs so far.

Thanks in advance,

James

Alternatives to TESC's Public Policy and Criminal Justice course
Posted by: a4tunatemom - 03-30-2009, 08:59 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (2)

Does anyone know of any alternatives to meet the Public policy/Social policy and Criminal Justice requirement at TESC? Originally, I thought the Organizational Behavior DSST would meet the requirement because it says on the website that ANY social policy is acceptable and an advisor named Dawna said Org. Behavior counted as social policy.

Now I was told it is not acceptable and it is too late to register for the TESC course and still meet the graduation deadline. If anyone knows of any course at another college, I would be very grateful. I have spent about five hours searching the web already.

EC Information Literacy - Wow, Kidding!
Posted by: malcs - 03-29-2009, 10:20 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (2)

Tonight I figured I better make some progress on this, so I logged into the course. I did half of it in 20 minutes. 8 week course, what? If this takes you 8 weeks, then a single ECE will take you twelve months.

I can't believe that my graduation was about to be held up by this course!

Much of the information is outdated as well. Comments about starting your search at the local library, and working your way out to the web? It very much has a librarian's point of view. I start with a web search, and find a decent primary source article, then I guess I might have to go to my library's paid-for access to get to the actual article.

Comments about a very small part of the web being indexed. Well, funny how a simple artlicle on my rarely accessed web server ends up on google in a day or so. I would argue this one.

What is with the dead-ended navigation that leaves you without a forward button to the next section? What is with some sections having quizzes and some not? Why does it not show you what you have completed, and end up sending you back to a section that you already finished?

I guess that I should be glad that I got a credit for doing nothing, but maybe $50 would be a more appropriate fee!

This exam is uncharacteristic of the overall Excelsior experience.

End of Rant!
