Has anyone applied yet?

I'm considering applying for one of these, but not until next year once I can use my employers reimbursement benefit.

I applied to the Learning Design program. The program falls in line with what I want to accomplish with technical education and corporate training. I'll post if accepted and when I start the program to answer any questions anyone might have.

Nervous about hearing the ~50 hour requirement for 1 CR - 1,650 hours for the 33 Credits seems a lot, no?

When stated like that, yes, but everyone works at different speeds and approaches learning and project completion differently. Dr. Lachheb did say "estimated time-on-task" and not "required time-on-task." Looks like I will need to read through the catalog again.

Applications are open.  Wondering if they allow transfer credits in for those of us with similar graduate studies

I submitted my application the day they opened, and I was accepted into the program. I believe it was stated that credit for prior coursework might be considered, though I'm not sure of the process. The Learning Design program is a fork from my typical academic endeavors, so I'm not sure if anything I have done prior will transfer. It's possible my prior doctoral research credits may transfer, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Once all of that is sorted out, I'll provide an update.

Thanks, that's prob key for many of us it seems. From your list maybe the MA credits would transfer.  I like the KU brand

Another thing to consider is transferring credits from a KU Flex program to another institution's program. I could see it being challenging to have 30 one-credit competencies evaluated for transfer credit toward the more typical three-credit course format.

Update to the Learning Design CBE program. I received this email yesterday:

Quote:I am writing with an important update about your admission to KU’s Jayhawk Flex Learning Design (MSE) (CBE) program.

After reviewing initial enrollment and the resources required to deliver the program, KU has decided not to launch the program for fall 2026.

You have a few options moving forward:

Withdraw your application and receive a refund of the application fee.
Apply to another competency-based education program.
Apply to another online master’s program.
Hold your application for up to a year while we determine the program’s future.
Please let me know which option fits you best by Monday, Aug. 10. If I do not hear from you by then, your application will be automatically withdrawn and you will receive a refund of the application fee.

If you decide to withdraw your application from the program (option 1), your application fee will be refunded automatically. For options 2 or 3, email [email protected] before submitting your application, so an application fee waiver can be applied to your new application.

I recognize that this is disappointing news, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption it may cause. KU plans to reevaluate the program’s viability over the next six months, but there is no confirmed future start date.

Not the end of the world for me since I have enough on my plate to keep me busy. Still, it's unfortunate the program won't be launching as planned. Has anyone else on this thread received a similar notice regarding a different Jayhawk Flex program?
