Excelsior College Rude? - sweetcrabhoney - 05-13-2015 Hi. I'm having an issue with my decision to go to Excelsior College. I'm feeling unwanted when talking to the adviser. Like they have better things to do or they simply don't want to talk with me. For example : I ask a question and I get a basic " You can find that out on our website." I understand that but upon searching the website and not finding it I ask for a link and the person on the phone sighs deeply like they just don't want to share the direct link. And then they don't know the link and have to email it to me. I don't get that email for maybe two days and then I ask for clarification about that topic and again I get a sigh deeply and the same basic answer. Is this a common thing or just my bad luck following me again? Thank you. Excelsior College Rude? - mednat - 05-13-2015 sweetcrabhoney Wrote:Hi. I haven't spoken with them on the phone. They were very direct but responsive with their emails when I was enrolled there. They would basically answer the question that was specifically asked and not elaborate beyond that. My experience was they were significantly more responsive than TESC has been, significantly more accurate than TESC, but neither are particularly friendly. Some of this may be cultural (Northeastern USA friendly, is different from the Southern USA friendly that I'm used to), some of it may be they have a large workload. Based on hearsay around the forum from students, it seems advising ranks from best to worst in this order: Charter Oak, then Excelsior then TESC. Obviously this differs person to person, but that's the feeling I've had from my time here. Excelsior College Rude? - sweetcrabhoney - 05-13-2015 Thank you for clarifying that... I thought I was going nuts for awhile. Excelsior College Rude? - Johann - 05-13-2015 Post deleted by Johann - sorry. Excelsior College Rude? - GoodYellowDogs - 05-13-2015 Are you enrolled and it's a true academic advisor? Or is this the enrollment advisor? If it is your true academic advisor, I would be surprised, as I found them to be VERY good. I used the email process (which you can send to advisor) and got an answer in 24-72 hours. I never found them rude and always got great info. In fact, my advisor went to bat for me on several occasions. The enrollment advisors were not as polite, but there's not much they can tell you that isn't already on the website. They can't make decisions on things. Excelsior College Rude? - sweetcrabhoney - 05-13-2015 Not enrolled yet... so that may be the issue . Explains why.. lol.. The other colleges before this one were extremely kind and polite so this is such a shock to me. I'll be enrolling soon I think ; with luck things will change. Thanks for your input. Excelsior College Rude? - JTP - 05-14-2015 It could also be a time of year thing, enrolling students for summer and taking care of related work with the end of spring semester. I waited three weeks for a detailed response from my academic advisor at COSC recently. Granted I was super impatient and wondering what was taking so long, then she sent me a humungous email with a ton of excellent information and all the documents I needed. She apologized and said things have been crazy with the things I mentioned above. |
