Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - tgle23 - 11-30-2017 Hello, I currently have an Associate Degree In Dental Hygiene (1993) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (1997). For my job, I need the quickest Associate Degree in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology. Price isn't issue as job is paying for it. Not sure where to start. I am familiar with CLEP. RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - dfrecore - 11-30-2017 TESU doesn't have AA's in those. They have a Undergrad Cert in Psych, and a BA in Psych or Sociology. Both would be fairly fast, and you could test out of a lot of them (especially since you already have a BA degree. Patten has 3 BA's in Psych (different concentrations) and is a competency-based model. You could go through it pretty fast if you wanted to. If you post your credits on here, I could help you come up with a plan, so you could see if it was worth doing. You need to post by school, and include whether it's semester-based or quarter based, course number, course name, number of credits, and grade if less than a C. Other people know more about COSC and EC and can help you there. RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - sanantone - 11-30-2017 The closest "quick" degree I can think of is Patten's associate's in criminal justice. Since you already have an associate's and bachelor's, you likely have all or most of the general education requirements for community colleges. However, you'd probably need to take a semester of psychology or sociology courses because the CCs will have at least a 15-credit residency requirement. The residency can be fulfilled with online courses. RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - tgle23 - 11-30-2017 I see TESU has an AA in Human Services Here is my transcript based on quarter system CLEP Exams: Biology 131/132 Intro to Biology I & II (10hrs), BSAD 370 Business Law (5), Principles of Economics (Econ 201 and 202) (10) English 112 Composition II (5) French 111 Beginning French I (5) French 112 Beginning French II (5) HIST 252 Survey of United States (5) Math 115 College Algebra (5) MGMT 301 Principles of Management (5) MKTG 301 Principles of Marketing (5) POLI 101 American National Government (5) SOCI 105/ Into Sociology (5) PSYC 201/ General Psychology (5) Clayton State College & State University BIOL 151/Human Anat & Phys (5) CHEM 121/Survey of Chemistry (5) CITZ 101/Citizenship (2) DHYG 101/Dent Anat Histology (5) DHYG 103/Orientation To Dhyg (1) BIOL 152/Human Anat & Phys (5) DHYG 102/Head & Neck Anat (3) DHYG 104/Pre-Clinical Dhyg (4) ENGL 101/English Composition (4) BIOL 250/Microbiology (5) DHYG 105/ Clinical Dhyg I (4) DHYG 106/ Gen Oral Pathology (3) DHYG 109/ Dental Radiology (3) SPCH 101/ Introduction To Speech DHYG 107/ Periodontics (3) DHYG 201/ Pharmacology & Anesth (3) MATH 106/ Fundamentals of Math (5) PHED 102/ First Aid (2) DHYG 110/ Nutrition (5) DHYG 202/ Clinical Dhyg II (6) DHYG 205/ Dental Health Educ (2) DHYG 204/ Clinical Dhyg Iv (7) DHYG 212/ Comm Dent Health II (2) PHIL 110 / Logic/Critical Thinking (5) COMM 310/ Interactive Communication (5) HSCI 455 / Health in Corporate Settings (5) DHYG 410/ Mgmt/Mktg in Dent Environment (5) HSCI 311/ Intro to Allied Health Admin (3) HSCI 311L/ Intro to Allied Health Admin Lab (2) DHYG 430/ Educational Strategies/Intern (5) HSCI 301/ Into/Health Care Management (5) HSCI 301L/ Into/Health Care Management – Lab (2) HSCI 352/ Legal Issues/Health Care (5) DHYG 420/ Advanced Periodontics (5) DHYG 440/ Independent Study (5) RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - bluebooger - 11-30-2017 (11-30-2017, 11:07 AM)tgle23 Wrote: Hello, I currently have an Associate Degree In Dental Hygiene (1993) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (1997). are you sure you need an associates in one of those ? does the job requirement state "minimum requirement: Associates in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology" ? if that's what it says I'd be surprised if your bachelors doesn't already surpass that requirement RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - sanantone - 11-30-2017 I forgot that TESU has a human services associates. That might be the best option. COSC only has general studies associates. Excelsior has a liberal arts associates with a concentration in human services. The OP's degree is not related to any of those. I can tell by the credits posted. RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - videogamesrock - 11-30-2017 Sounds like an HR person had a brilliant idea to create this requirement. They probably read some article somewhere and implemented this requirement. I really don't understand why an AA would be more valuable than the BAS in this case? It's like that person who on this board needed a second BA and the HR person at first wouldn't accept an MBA instead. Similar thing happened to my friend who has a BS in Business Analytics and they told him that he needed a BSBA. Unfortunately you can't always negotiate with HR folks or reason. RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - tgle23 - 11-30-2017 My degree doesn't fit. My transcript doesn't reflect enough classes in human service field. So they say..... Agency director must have either a bachelor's degree in a human service field (such as social work, psychology, education, nursing, or closely related field) or have an associate degree in nursing, education, or a related field RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - cookderosa - 11-30-2017 (11-30-2017, 11:07 AM)tgle23 Wrote: Hello, I currently have an Associate Degree In Dental Hygiene (1993) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (1997). The "in" part needs defining. Some schools allow you to do an area of study, or a concentration at the associate level, but associate degrees are typically an Associate of Arts, an Associate of Science, etc not an Associate of Psychology, etc. What "exactly" does your job want and what would qualify? That's the key. I don't know if this would work, but if you did one of the BOG degrees, I think you could get a specialization in any subject that you had 15 credits in. (psych would be cheapest via exam options- assuming your prior credit fills in the right spots) Edit: I say your explanation. I'm still thinking you could do the BOG very quickly and inexpensively. RE: Quickest Associate in Human Science, Psychology or Sociology, - SDO - 11-30-2017 I don't think you can get a BOG degree if you already have a bachelor's degree, or even another associate's degree. |
