ACE-recommended culinary classes - rachel83az - 04-14-2022 Definitely NOT cheap, but I know that some people have a burning desire to become a chef of some kind. https://rouxbe.com/professional-culinary-courses https://www.acenet.edu/National-Guide/Pages/Organization.aspx?oid=17b26e19-3eab-ea11-a812-000d3a378a3a https://rouxbe.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/PDF/RXB_FAQ_Sheet.pdf The "Essential Vegan Desserts" course appears to be the cheapest, at $500 (on sale until the 26th for $400). Prices go up from there. In theory, one could pair Rouxbe's courses with some courses from Coopersmith for a Liberal Studies/Liberal Arts degree focused on cooking/hospitality. XAMK also offers some courses on tourism/hospitality. Also forgot about Sur La Table. Again, not cheap, but they have 6 courses @ 3 ACE credits each for a total of $1500 when purchased all at once. That would be about $83/credit. Or you can purchase them one a time for $300/course. https://www.acenet.edu/National-Guide/Pages/Organization.aspx?oid=afcbb531-a82d-eb11-a813-000d3a33232a https://www.surlatableonlineculinaryinstitute.com/series/ RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - LevelUP - 04-14-2022 onlinedegree.com has a really nice free culinary class. The videos are really good for that course. It's not ACE but a lot of schools take their courses. RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - rachel83az - 04-14-2022 I forgot about OnlineDegree. I keep meaning to take that course, too, just for the sake of curiosity. RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - Jonathan Whatley - 04-14-2022 Study.com has several hospitality credit courses too. RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - bluebooger - 04-14-2022 wow -- online cooking classes sounds weird, but interesting RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - MNomadic - 04-14-2022 Another post about Sur La Table: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-NEW-ACE-Credit-Providers RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - dfrecore - 04-14-2022 I'm going to guess that applying for a chef position when your degree consists of all online cooking courses is not going to get you real far. RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - Jonathan Whatley - 04-14-2022 In 1977 Penn State University offered a correspondence course on ice cream. $5 got the student a spiral-bound textbook with tests at the end of each chapter. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield split the fee and studied together. They were interested in starting a food business, and their first choice was bagels, but the startup costs for ice cream were more within their reach. But you mix it with years of experience and you’re looking at a management position. RE: ACE-recommended culinary classes - sanantone - 04-14-2022 Coopersmith has several culinary/hospitality courses, but they're NCCRS. Penn Foster has a gourmet cook certificate program. |
