Study.com experience with the new changes? - Ares - 06-29-2025

Has anyone finished any classes under Study.com's recent changes and if so how was the experience?

I’m curious myself as I’m about to start.

I haven't renewed subscription. Heard horror stories on the forum old users werent grandfathered in the post open exam policy and get the worst of both worlds where they are still only getting 2 exams for a 300 USD fee while someone that opened an account today can zip through 20 courses in 3 weeks.

It looks like there are two plans available: one priced at $95 and the other at $235. Both plans now offer unlimited courses, instead of charging $70 per course after the second course. However, it appears that the $95 plan is limited to General Education courses.

Is that right?

Has anyone tried the AI tutor?

We should start a pool on how long it’ll take before someone posts they’ve completed 20 courses in a month. Lol.

College Starter $95/month is general education and electives, people have 67 classes to select from, mainly lower level credits, College Saver $235/month is everything that is offered, all the upper level classes in addition to the 67: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Study-com-new-pricing-95-mo

I haven't tried the AI tutoring yet, Sophia.org and their 75 classes are being challenged with the Study.com College Starter, it's a direct competitor as the classes somewhat overlap, both having some that are upper level and with various classes available (not available on the other platform).

I completed the College Saver and completed 21 courses in 30 days. It is like Sophia, but chapter exams are longer. For example, there could be 10-15 quizzes before the final exam!

One Word of experience as I completed my new Study.com changes 50 days ago.

If you have 0% AI written assignment, you get an instant response of check within like 3-4 hours. Mine was usually with 30 mins because in computer programming link i share the online version of the working link to the teacher/instructor, and he/she doesn't need to read the code line and can see the publicly available program based on the assignment.

But the minute i took upper classes of cybersecurity and AI classes with writing assignment, anything written/corrected via Grammarly (grammerly stupid enough to please their paid users) will flag as AI written and you will not get response for a week until they warn and send it back to you!!

So use tools at on your will....

From the upper division classes I took, I always had assignments graded within 2-3 hours. It is getting upper division courses where you sent and graded every assignment for the credly badge that has been a frustrating experience. It has been 6... 7 months and Study still has remained radio silent about one of my upper division courses without a final exam even though I had passed every requirement to be granted credit. The worst is that I had finished it in December, and still had an open college sver subscription all January and still that wasn't enough 'weight' or priority in the system for them to accredit the course or in the very least tell me if there was an obscure mystery reason why I couldn’t be passed even though I never use AI or even Grammerly spellcheck.

I don't know if there is an email I can ask why they take 9 months while new kids with new accounts can zip thru courses like eating fast food.

Maybe I am distrustful of study is also because the 70 bucks per exam to do up to 4 exams in one month only worked for me once and I used another college saver month and was barred from 2 free exams. So I ended up with the worst of the worst where I was charged 210 usd an top of the college saver subscription only to have courses a
I dutifully passed accredited... uhhh... never. I haven't checked my account to verify how many courses I should have gotten credly badges and am still waiting... 8 months and going.

Would also like to see confirmation on a forum member that had the old study subscription if the horror story was true. Like if they have old accounts and now the new one really really does work or they force you to pay 140 usd on top of the 200 usd subscription so that you end up with never even getting courses passed and end up wasting 300 usd and weeks of your time while new accounts zip through courses like there is no tomorrow.

So, it is unsurprising I feel the study courses on study are great but the product has left me skeptical and hesistant to use ever again for valid reasons.

Growing pains, I would get in contact with support again by email, and ask them again what may be causing the delays...

I'm waiting for them to work out any problems before I mess with it

Well, I followed your suggestion and sent a ticket to tech support and they gave me this auto response:

You scored 86% on your exam, which brings your overall course grade to 91%, below the 70% threshold required for credit eligibility

Apparently, a 91% in the course is less than 70% which means I didn’t earn credit for the UL course. I know I am not good at math, but I never knew a 91% is lower than a 70%
