It would most likely depend on your school if you can transfer the clep credits, I know my school doesn't allow all clep tests as credits. You probably have to take it up w/an adviser.

Welcome to the IC-Forums!!
I see that you're anxious and excited about the prospect of earning college credit via CLEP (DANTES too?) exams and that your school may or may not have certain restrictions.
If they are too restrictive might I boldly suggest another school that accepts ALL EXAMS and you can earn your degree faster and inexpensively.
If so, check out http://www.excelsior.edu for a dynamic alternative - GOOD LUCK!!

The reason why I need to go to this school, is because of there radiation therapy program. I was thinking about excelsior to maybe get another degree. I have to have 50 credits to get into the radiation program. So i wanted to speed up the process. Thanks

I have an Associate degree in a trade, and am attending TESC for my bachelor degree. You can work on your degrees at the same time without taking more classes until much later. Like me, your specific radiation therapy courses will probably only transfer as electives. Anything you take in arts and sciences will probably transfer in to that requirement. You can plan this out on paper, but if you work it right, you can do extra testing now to count toward your bachelor degree (even if your college doesn't take them for your radiation therapy program). You can "save" these for transfer later.
Let's say your program requires a math course, but it isn't a math department math course, it is offered through your radiation department. You can still take the CLEP exam for college math (which will be fresh in your mind after your class) and it won't duplicate credit. I had 6 credits of culinary and business math, but these came in as electives in my bachelor degree.
If you want to work on both at the same time, you can simply apply to one of the "big 3" schools to get an unofficial evaluation of your credits- and then keep a log of what you are doing.

Hi,
I am in a similar situation to yours because I found I needed certain credits to get into my program of interest. I had to enroll in the community college to get the prerequisite credits. At my community college, I can take ANY CLEP exam, but they will only award me credit for certain ones, so I have to consult a list to be sure that it will give me the credit I need. Your school probably has a similar lists of what CLEPs they will award credit for.
I have been combining CLEP, college courses, and advanced standing placement credit to get where I need to be to enter my program. Since starting 3 months ago, I have already earned 22 credits (1 college course, 1 advanced standing, and 4 CLEP tests).
You can probably examine what kind of credits you need, and create a similar program for yourself, either with your local community college or with one of the online colleges like excelsior. The advantage of one of those online colleges is that you can get some of your credits through DANTE testing so it may be quicker. That wouldn't work for me because I need the credits to transfer to my upper level college. But as I mentioned, even without the DANTEs tests I have been able to speed up my plan considerably with CLEP.
However you decide, I have found this board and the InstaCert flash cards to be an invaluable resource. Good luck!
