The courses are nothing but piecemealed documents and webpages from dozens of sources. It takes forever to read through all of them, and it just isn't well-organized.

All providers require proctored tests, except for the free credits. I recommend if you want to do the least work and have the greatest chance of a pass, do the StraighterLine courses that have an open book final, the next would be the StraighterLine closed book final, then finally the Study.com courses for UL AOS credits. I always or usually recommend the SL/Study.com combo as per my signature.

Biometric proctoring is optional as a beta test feature but both methods are available.

I don't know if it's still the case, but when I took Sophia's Ancient Greek Philosophers there was no proctoring at all.

If I were starting from scratch today, I'd use onlinedegree.com for as many as possible. I really like the approach and for $9 it's a better deal than studycom which is similar in style but more expensive. (of course they don't have a big catalog yet, but I've been impressed so far!)
