Looking to get a degree to get my CFP
#11
QuickBachelorss Wrote:Hey, I’m really nervous about my future and getting a degree. I don’t want to only get a degree just to list it, I also want a degree that has the highest accreditation and lacks skepticism. TESU/UMPI don’t seem like they cover the accreditation/lacking skepticism part. I fear I’ll struggle to find job placement with that degree.
Do you know of any other university where I can quickly get a degree? I’m willing to do anything and go through any “hula hoop,” like if I had to take courses at TESU to then transfer it to *x* university I’m totally cool with that!

Hey OP, I got your PM and will respond here instead, many people have asked the same thing before and my response has always been the same throughout. TESU, UMPI, COSC are public/state institutions and you shouldn't need to worry about them, Excelsior, PUG, SNHU, WGU are exclusively online which is fine as well for many purposes, I generally would recommend these private/non profit exclusively online institutions over the for-profit ones unless the for profit institutions have programs not available elsewhere...

You need to take some time reviewing posts/threads and WIKI to decipher which degree/institution may suit you most. There are other institutions we also recommend that are competency based, or entirely online as well, such as UMASS Global, UMGC, and various others as well. You're trying to pick from the 2000-3000+ institutions that accept the most transfer credits and second guessing yourself as you're not fully aware of what accreditation and recognition is. Advice is just that, take your time processing it.

Recommend you to take a look at Indiana Tech in this case (officially IIT: https://academics.indianatech.edu/programs/). Very reputable, real brick and mortar school. Accept a ton of ACE credits from Sophia and SDC specifically. Talked to them on email, seem to be great people. Never studied yet though, I seek to go next year after UMPI (if I finish UMPI lol). They have B.S. in Accounting and a few concentrations in B.S.B.A.

I apologize if I'm doing this template wrong.

I (unfortunately) need a degree to become a CFP. I am looking to get a degree from a university that hopefully has a CFP program (SNHU?) and one that I can get pretty quick.

Your Location: Illinois

Your Age: 25

What kind of degree do you want?: finance/economics/accounting/business

Current Regional Accredited Credits: I have around 15 from community college way back then (2018)

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: none

Budget: None

Commitments: none necessarily

Dedicated time to study: as much as needed

Timeline: ASAP

Tuition assistance/reimbursement: none.

Yes, SNHU offers a Bachelor Degree in Finance with a concentration in Financial Planning. This program is accredited by the CFP Board and prepares you for the CFP exam.

Thank you! I’m curious as to how much I can expedite the process. I heard I can’t really expedite it much.

Also not to mention I do want to keep my post-bachelors (masters/mba) options open.

I'm guessing the info you'll get here will be similar to the responses in your other thread, https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...g-business Was there anything different/additional that you were looking for that maybe wasn't answered in that thread?

Ha, I actually just saw the original thread a day ago when it was linked in a different thread by the OP, that's why I noticed the resemblance right away. To the OP, I wasn't trying to be mean or call you out on the similar threads, just figured it might be better to specify if there was something in particular that you didn't get from the original thread, so people responding to the new thread could narrow it down.

You're confusing people with multiple accounts, please have the administrator/webmaster see which account you want to keep and use that one... It's actually one account per person, there isn't a need for a second account unless it's recommend for your spouse or family member to be on the board, so we can help them.

Edit to Add: apparently, you have a third account, and a previous thread already in addition to the two that was merged. It's going to really confuse people trying to help you. You're going in all directions just to get started. It's easier for you and the people volunteering to help you if you are honest and not cheating yourself.

Here's your first thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Where-to-attend
I'm not quick to ban people, but I've seen other moderators do the banning of multiple accounts.

Exactly LOL. I remember just giving OP suggestions about SNHU, ASU for CFP and forget about UW-Parkside on another thread. CFP exam eligibility can only be satisfied by CFP board-registered schools not just ANY business degree. There are very specific courses that OP needs to take and the last thing he wants is to shell out an additional $10-15K and 12-18 months as CFB deemed his "easy, fast and somewhat-known" business degree as not good enough
