My BS is completed 20 years ahead of goal!
#1
I finished my last test this morning, completing the Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union with a 60, which is an A for Excelsior. Now I have to wait for it to be transcripted to them and the paper work to finish up my BS.

I'm one of those people who always wanted a degree but life got in the way. Strange thing, you have to eat and have a roof over your head, don't you. Anyway, I jokingly (not really) told my son years ago that I might be 80 when I finished my degree and he could push me down the aisle for the graduation ceremony in my wheelchair. The good news is that I have beaten that goal by 20 years, as I will turn 60 this summer hilarious

To you youngsters I would like to share that you have so many more opportunities that just were not available to us years ago and the ability to access so much information through computers is remarkable. If this OF (new abbreviation for the IC list...it means "old fart") can do this, you can too!

Now to finish some things around the house that I have been putting off but suspect I will be bored quickly and be looking for something else to do soon.

The INSTANT CERT site and the members of the forum are what has made the difference in this journey. I came here looking for study information for one CLEP and ended up changing schools from Broward College in Florida to EC and finished an AS, which is all I originally intended. Now the BS is complete. Who knows what will happen next!

By the way, I have recently been told I am gettinng a full contract at the technical school I work for. I'm sure the fact they have seen me working toward the degree helped to make this possible.

Awesome. You get to keep that qualification forever because you earned it, and on your own terms Smile

I appreciate your point about opportunity. Thanks for the demonstration Smile

CONGRATS!!! Very, very inspiring. You've proven to yourself and us that biological age is meaningless, you can accomplish anything if your willing to try hard enough. Like the song says "I've got a lot of livin' to do", and I'd say that you'll be amazed at what you'll achieve in the next 40 or so years Smile

Congratulations! This stuff is addictive isn't it?

You should consider doing a masters while you are still in the zone.
There are so many options out there it is fun to look into it all.
Some courses are very reasonable and can work for education or liberal studies majors.

Good luck!

Great job and thanks for adding the line at the end. A little recognition of your efforts....priceless.

Congratulations to your achievement!!! Like you, I started my education late due to other reasons like food, roof and raising a family. Now my daughter and I are both in college and now the race is on between the tortoise (me) and the hare (her). I take one class or CLEP at a time. I figure if I take enough classes eventually they will have to give me a piece of paper that has my name on it.

It's heartening to learn that I'm not the only old fart out there working on my degree. Keep up the good work. Here is a quote from Albert Einstein. "Once you stop learning, you start dying", so never stop learning.
