If they are posts, the clear polish works. If they are other styles, take a jewlery making class. You can then cut off the cheap stuff and put your own piece made with the metal you know you are not allergic to.
I also have a friend who can only wear clip-ons. She took a class and now buys inexpensive but fashionable jewlery for pierced ears and can convert them to clip-ons.
No, it does not work for everything but it is a help.
