Average is considered 120/80 but that is very generic. Bottom line, you need to check with your Mom, Dad, and other family members and you may find out that a lower number is the norm for your family. A family doctor will be able to discuss this in more detail with you.
My husband is a very large person, older, overweight, and has a terrible diet but his BP is always low, which is normal for his father's family who also live long, and who he most resembles physically. Now on to me. When in my mid-30's, thin, watching what I ate, and it shot up through the roof - 180/153 - and have been on medications since. Found out that was the most common pattern on my father's side of the family, which I most resemble physically.
Anyway, you do not have to worry about you BP at this point in time, but it is good to get your older family members to start informing you of the family history. Being informed of things can help you to make better lifestyle choices. Just because someone has a problem, by the way, does not mean you will have the same problems but some things may mean you can be predisposed to them, and that is where the lifestyle choices will make a difference.
Hope this helps with the original question. :hurray:
My parents BP is 90/60 but I guess my BP doesn't have to be just like theirs.
