Honestly I don't understand what you're complaining here. If you forget to cancel your membership for six months it is not really their fault. I don't think you wouldn't ask for a refund to your cable company if you didn't watch TV last month. Instancert is a service, whether you use it or not is your responsibility.
I'm with Bunbu here. How could you not notice that you were being charged for six months? That seems a little ridiculous. They have an option to pay for six months, but that is not what you are describing when you say, "most recent charge". If you did not complain or try to cancel anytime during that six month period then I doubt they would give you your money back. That's like buying a new car, letting it sit in your garage for six months, and then trying to get your money back from the dealer complaining that you didn't like the color.
Businesses just don't work that way and they never have. You should just accept a refund from the last charge, which seems generous enough on their end to me, and let that be a lesson to keep a better eye on your finances in the future. No one is trying to cheat you. And if you didn't bother to read the terms of service because they were too long or difficult for you then you had no business signing up for the service. You couldn't have called to ask about the terms or to let them know you had issues logging in?
I appreciate your service to this country, but being a disabled veteran does not relieve you of personal responsibility. I have many veterans in my family and none of them used their service as an excuse to not pay attention to what they were doing. In my opinion, you are giving veterans and current service members a bad name.
