I used to be surprised by this, but not anymore. The great majority of students really only know the one way to go to school. Even when I link people to the CLEP/DSST page at their institution they don't seem to buy the idea that it's meant for them.
It's sort of confusing when you consider that there are even tests to qualify for the next grade in High School (in Florida). You would think this would breed an understanding or at least a high comfort level with the concept of "high stakes" testing.
