I don't know why anyone would choose to take many classes at any of the big 3, their strength lies not in affordability but in utility. Take actual classes through a local school or an affordable alternative and transfer them back....that's where the economy lies and wil provide for the format your friend requires.
CSU Pueblo is about $150/credit, BYU isn't much more. Even Harvard Extension is only $250/credit.
