Students will have an understanding of mathematics beyond the entry-level requirements for college.
Examples: College-level Algebra or higher, Statistics."
COSC Student Catalog
The CLEP College Mathematics exam would count as 6 credits in liberal arts electives. An easy option for someone trying to get a BA instead of BS.
Are you sure? I think your first sentence, and the implication CLEP College Mathematics would go to electives but not a gen ed requirement, are mistaken. CLEP College Mathematics is beyond the entry-level requirements for college. Charter Oak's Master Exam List [pdf] indicates that CLEP College Mathematics does meet the Mathematics general education requirement ("q.") Charter Oak's search tool for COSC courses that meet their gen ed requirements shows that their own MAT 101 Contemporary Mathematics (3 sh, similar in content to the 6 sh CLEP College Math) will also meet the Mathematics gen ed requirement.
