Ideas Wrote:Has anyone taken a business Davar exam and also the Strategic Mgmt TECEP? I am interested in learning more about how they compare. The Davar business exams I took have 10 short essay questions each, and someone mentioned it was like a TECEP to them. I would like to know more about if the difficulty is similar. Especially for the Davars that don't involve math, since that's kind of a different skill, calculations instead of explaining concepts in writing.
I only took one Davar test so far - International Management - and I don't yet know if I passed. I also took the Strategic Management TECEP about three weeks ago. I thought they were somewhat similar in format - they both have partial multiple choice questions and partial essays, with the MC questions being worth one point. They are slightly different that the TECEP has only 30 questions, and Davar has 60, and the TECEP's essays were obviously worth more.
I thought the Strategic Management MC questions were harder as I felt like they were pulled from all over, and also the essays are more specific and you really have to be able to answer the questions comprehensively. I also thought that the TECEP's questions were broader and more comprehensive, while Davar's questions were more specific - macro vs. micro.
On the plus side with the TECEP, you only need a 60% to pass, plus there's a lot of feedback so you really have a good idea what to study. Also TESU gives you a sheet with specifically what they are testing on the exam, and the breakdown, so you really know what to expect on the test - I thought that the test really did follow that sheet exactly.
