I don't retain information well and I failed the final exam.  If I do the retake will the questions that I answered correctly help boost my overall final grade to pass the course?

1) What did you get on the quizzes and what did you get on the final exam?  
Did you add the two and see if you got above 70% cumulative?

Final exam - 54/100
Over all Grade - 60%

Hmm, if you got 100% on the quizzes and 54% on the final exam, that is a 69.3% overall, not 60%. That suggests you missed a pass by only one question. You could probably just study up on the areas that you know you struggled with on the exam, retake the chapter exams to help refresh everything (and study any areas you're weak in there) and retake the final exam to get a higher score. All you need is a 55% or better on the final to pass.

Can't you end up with 100% on the quizzes, but still not have a lot of those count because it took more than 3 tries to get to that point?  If so, you could easily need a much higher score on the final.  My DD needs 70% on the final to pass one of her courses for this reason.
