If I understand their invitation right, they nominated me towards a President role which is essentially teaching, networking and leading meetings. I'll go through all the training and then report back and tell you guys how it went. Supposedly the training will take a few months.
They partner with True Nature Education to get you a slight discount on international trips. The currently listed trips specifically for NSHS are to
- Delphi Valley, Ireland ($2995)
- Tuscany, Italy ($2695)
- Acred Valley, Peru ($2,995)
I'm majoring in Education and getting my teaching license. Surprisingly enough the trips are marketed towards teachers! The trips include
- Lodging, 3 meals
- Teaching English in local schools
- Participating in traditional ceremonies and indigenous cultural activities
- Participating in eco-friendly activities such as reforestation activities
- Hiking, rowing and survival skills like making rafts
- (for Italy) truffle hunting, farming, canoeing (for Ireland) bogging, archery...
You could simply go on a trip to these places for about half the cost as this package deal, but that wouldn't include the cost of activities. Except... I think... airfare is not included in the package cost. Hm. I am going to actually go and calculate the cost of doing all this yourself and then report back.
In the US it means nothing, it's fluff they offer to everyone with a certain GPA.
It's a pay-to-play sort of thing.
Usually, those "discounted" trips are horribly overpriced and box you into an itinerary/lodging. I went to Italy in the summer and spent much less than that...WAY better to book on your own
