I'm a long-time lurker and just decided to create an account. I recently completed my ENEB MBA + Master in Big Data and Business Intelligence, and I have received my digital diplomas for the program.
I have a question regarding academic background checks. Since the diplomas will also be issued by Isabel I, what should be listed for potential employers' background checks for the degrees? Should it be ENEB or Universidad Isabel I?
I assume that once I receive the digital degree from Isabel I, it will confirm that the degree has been conferred by them?
Thanks in advance for your help!
From your post I assume you’ve only recovered your ENEB diplomas?
The “how-to-list” issue has been discussed in this thread before, but I don’t recall it being as specific as “for background check purposes”.
That said, most people either list Isabel I alone, or put it down as Isabel I/ENEB.
People seem to get jobs or promotions by doing just that, so I don’t think you can go wrong with it.
One thing to note is what kind of background check are you dealing with? Most background check agencies aren’t as up to date on foreign academic credentials as FCE agencies are.
I am in the process of applying for new opportunities, and as you might be aware, the US job market is a total disaster and continuing to eat itself alive. Usually when you receive an offer, the company will hire an outside background check service to perform criminal and academic background checks, which is a standard procedure. For the academic background check, they will reach out to the institution to verify and validate that the candidate did in fact receive the degree that was listed.
I could potentially reach out to ENEB to gather their opinion. They might come back with Isabel having their own timeline of processing the diplomas and thus conferring the degree. Ideally, I would prefer to just list Universidad Isabel I for more credibility as ENEB has terrible google search results for their top 10 searches in case recruiters get curious.
I've searched this thread up and down and haven't seen anything specific to employment verifications for the degree. I thought I'd throw out the question to see if anyone had any experience with this.
