Open book is 10 times easier than proctored exams. I have done both and can pass an open book exam without taking the course so long as the book is digital. Regardless I am not talking about open book exams but specifically proctoring. Without proctored exams or submitted projects/papers any University will become a ChatGPT diploma mill.
That UMPI thread was last commented on in 2023. UMPI doesn't have exams so there's no proctoring. UMPI has been RA for decades. It's also a state university. UMPI went through reaccreditation in 2022 when the entire U of M system was reaccredited.

I've had plenty of courses with open book exams and they're normally considerably more difficult. Mine have also been timed so you had to know exactly where to find the info. The open book exams I took in college were NOTHING like Sophia which were a breeze compared to the ones I completed.
