35 states offer tuition "free" community college for eligible residents, the rest who are actually low income can qualify for a maximum Pell grant of $7,395. There are plenty of online schools where that will cover the tuition.
Yes, that leaves 30% of the US unable to get free education from their state without federal support. The Pell Grant also has requirements not everyone qualifies for. It is funny you advocate for programs administered by the Department of Education on this post, but argue for the closure of the DOE on others. You cant have both.
