So, I attended the open house for Peirce College today. Although, it was mostly giving a general overview of the college, I am impressed with various methods the advertise on how to save money for both undergrad and grad studies. They don’t have a variety of degrees to study from, but most of their degrees allows transfer between 90-120 credit hours depending on the degree program. This could be done with past coursework, portfolio assessment, and more, They also have ways to save on grad school. Like take some grad classes but pay under grad price. A lot was just a rehash of what was on their website. Basic stuff really.
I felt the admissions and financial aid specialists were friendly. I get the sense that staff and professors are open and want to see students succeed. They said students can arrange to meet with faculty in different departments.
I did ask what will happen to Peirce College’s transfer policy once the merger with Lackawanna was complete, no one had answer. All I got was this is something between the colleges that is being discussed and it’s up to Lackawanna on what they want to accept.
I also did call Lackawanna College and asked their admissions people. They also don’t have a definitive answer and told me, I needed to talk Peirce College. Basically, they told me the directors of the registrar’s offices between the colleges are discussing it. They haven’t said any info to the staff yet.
That is the only thing I am worried about is Lackawanna College does away with Peirce College’s transfer policy. Who knows at this point.
