I had a call with the DEAC yesterday, as I wanted to confirm the legitimacy, especially since their site listed Elmwood.edu, when the site is still elmwood.org, leading it to a dead page. They said they'd update it on their end, and it is an org site because they haven't received their full accreditation as a solo university.
It was alluded to that their was a dispute on teaching philosophies, which led to the split in organization. Patten is "sponsoring" in a sense.
What does this mean for potential students?
If you complete the degree and they fold? Your degree will still be a NA recognized degree, held by Patten.
If you complete your degree and they succeed to full accredited institute? Your degree will be NA recognized, held by Elmwood.
If you complete your degree, and after it is completed, they obtain RA status? Your degree will still be held by Elmwood, but would not retroactively become RA, it would remain NA.
If you do not complete your degree? You could've wasted your money on a lot of worse things.
I also got the understanding the price is the price, since Elmwood in a sense is trying to build their portfolio to prove they should get their own accredited institute. I am undecided on doing Elmwood first or either WGU or UoPeople MBA first, and risk this price of Elmwood spiking.
