I just joined Edgewood College DBA program - specialization in Tech and AI. Thank you so much to Liden who posted her journey throughout the program. It helped me decide to take the plunge as well.

Since I just joined, I have no clue what and how everything works but hoping all works out well. Getting a DBA has been a dream, and I can't believe I can finally achieve it.

I am also glad to be pre-warned on how upgrad functions. It will help me become more independent. Besides now we have ChatGPT who can answer most questions, probably better than upgrad.

Although I will be honest, the counsellor is super helpful, but as someone else mentioned, after the initial payment, then all goes wrong. So I am wide awake to possibilities.

I do have a question on the immersion program. Has anyone done that and how was your experience and when did it happen.

It will be nice to get some information on this.

Thank you,
Nilofer

Welcome to the program Nilofer!

The Edgewood professors have been my best resource for class-related questions.  An example was a few weeks back when UpGrad sent me multiple emails about an office hours meeting for different times, the instructor got me sorted out much faster than if I had contacted UpGrad.

While you have to deal with UpGrad for some things,  I've ignored all of the non-essential UpGrad communications, conference calls, and TA Calls and been fine.

I've never heard of an immersion program. May I ask what that is?

Side note, I'm a boy!

Hi Lidel,
Thank you for replying and apologies for the gender mistake.

I have unfortunately also been inundated with emails from UpGrad. The login creation email was buried under all that and once I found it, I can't create the login account. Reaching out to UpGrad, I was asked the most stupidest question, did you click the "big red button to Create the Account" and not the link.

I do know the difference between a pdf or Word file that is the guide and the webpage for the account creation. Still can't create the login, get a msg you have exceeded the number of login attempts... which is weird since I was never able to create the login.

But besides the technical difficulties, I am super excited. Got the email for my first course - BUS 903: Analyzing Behaviour in Organizations. Not sure when I'll get access but can't wait. Hope the course isn't hard.

Also if I remember correctly, you have opted for Leadership as specialization... Are you now in those elective courses or still doing the core?

I'm wondering if there is anyone in the group who has taken Tech and AI. I believe they just introduced this course in 2025.

As for the immersion course, my counsellor told me about it when I first contacted him. It is a trip to the college, meeting the professors, other students etc. So was curious if anyone took this path and how it was.

I tried pasting an image from the Edgewood brochure that talks about the program, but I was facing problems. I couldn't even add it as an attachment. But if you go to your Egdewood brochure, check out the page after "Meet the Faculty".

Also I believe you are well ahead of me in the course and so wanted to ask, is there a whatsapp group? Not necessarily official, but something the students themselves have setup to communicate with each other.

I had a whatsapp group in my MBA course and it helped a lot as it connected us through learning, and prevented imposter syndrome from creeping up.

Let me know pls. and also pls. do continue with your posts.

I'm sure they will continue helping a lot of potential students.

No worries on the gender error Smile

You will get a lot of UpGrad emails. I have a folder called "UpGrad Nonsense," which is just for these. A lot of them are ads for additional services, surveys, and yes, even trying to enroll me in the program I am already in.

Yeah, looking at the courses, I'm on the leadership track, though I can't remember selecting it specifically for the life of me. That is the one I would have taken, though, so it's likely just me getting old and forgetful. I've not encountered the Tech and AI course. I'm currently on my final course, Managerial Economics, so in about a month, I'm moving to the dissertation phase. I'll be sure to keep you updated.

I recall the offer for a trip to the University, but at the time, I had no interest as it's half a continent away from me. I don't think anyone in my Cohort did so; most are even further away from the institution than I am.

There was a WhatsApp group, which was dissolved about six weeks back in favour of a Microsoft Teams group. The WhatsApp group was just a repeat of the emails, and no one from UpGrad ever responded to questions, so once again, limited use. Edgewood and UpGrad encourage student collaboration, but there has been nothing in my case.

Each course has optional opportunities each week to collaborate with others, and while we made a go of it in the first class, no one says a peep now. I know that three of the cohort are in the same city, and they have met in person, but that's the only case I know of.

Have a great day!
