I think it's really kinda simple...
Conservative = wants a conservative gov't, government to stay out of individual people's lives, small gov't, more freedom for the people

Liberal = wants a liberal gov't, wants government to be in charge of as much as possible, big government...sounds almost socialist (or even the long, Russian "C" word with a couple "m"s to me

I like small gov't...i could be labelled "conservative". You can believe what you want. It's a free country, isn't it? Even though Liberals seem to want to change that.
