Precalc on the horizon
#3
Finally!!!!! Someone who is active on this forum is about to take the Precalc Clep test!!!

Sorry....I got excited. I have searched on this forum and can't come up with very much information regarding the precal test. You're the first person I've found who is currently studying for the precalc exam.

I plan to take the exam in mid-April, which is coming up quickly. I've already studied a lot and made some mistakes, but I feel like a guinea pig or a Lone Ranger on this test. It seems to be dragging on forever.

***************************

First of all, I tried ALEKS Precalculus. If you don't know what I'm talking about, click on this: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...ight=aleks

Anyway, ALEKS was pretty tough and took a long time to complete. I think I got about 50 percent of the way through it before I quit. It teaches you so much information and is MUCH more comprehensive than the CLEP Precalc exam. However, once you go through the ALEKS program....believe me, you will understand Precalculus backwards and forwards.

When you finish the ALEKS program, you can usually transfer your ALEKS credits to your school for credit. I do not recommend using ALEKS to study for the CLEP test, however, because it will teach you a lot of things you don't need to know for the exam.

So, instead of just finishing the ALEKS program, I decided to quit ALEKS and just prep for the CLEP itself. That's what I'm doing right now, using the REA book. Everything seems to be going very well.

In conclusion, I recommend two options: (1) Take the CLEP precal exam or (2) use the ALEKS program for credit. But don't use ALEKS to study for the CLEP. Big Grin

The great thing about ALEKS is that, if you're diligent, you can get your 3 Precal credits in less than a month for.....................$20!

I sure hope this is understandable....Let me know if you have questions. Smile
