Also, besides just the tuition cost, have you identified the UL courses you want to transfer back to the school you want to get a degree from? Are they nursing courses?I am actually looking at two schools: TESC and Oklahoma Wesleyan. Since TESC has such a generous transfer policy regarding the acceptance of previous credits earned, this is not the school that I worry about. Oklahoma Wesleyan, however, offers an RN-to-BSN program that also interests me. It requires 36 hours worth of general education credits, 42 hours worth of core curriculum (nursing) credits, and a minimum of 60 credit hours that I must transfer into the university. I am allowed to transfer up to 72 lower level credits into this school. Of the 72 LL credits that I will transfer in, 36 of them will be general ed requirements. I am going to need a total of 126 semester hours to graduate from OKWU, and I'll fall short without some upper level free electives.
72 lower level credits + 42 upper level nursing credits = 114 credit hours (I need 126 credits to earn a bachelor of science in nursing degree from OKWU)
The UL courses that I want to transfer are not nursing courses. Rather, they are free electives such as pathophysiology, upper level humanities courses, social sciences, etc. It looks as if I'll need 12 credit hours worth of UL free electives to get to the magic number of 126 credits. I have the option of taking these UL courses at OKWU, but I really don't want to pay the $388 per credit hour if I can complete the same courses elsewhere at a more affordable cost.
Here are OKWU's BSN completion requirements: http://www.okwu.edu/assets/pdfs/RN-BSN-info.pdf
